Do it differently…

There is always a sense of excitement in the unknown.. This, we are all aware of… But what if you had the ability to re create the excitement in the known?

On our recent trip to Jaipur, a super vibrant and colourful city in the deserts of India.. we discovered facets about each other that made us go ‘ahem ahem’ as well as groan out a ‘no way on earth,’ that too aloud!!

There was a movie shoot going on and the scene was about the main pair and some villagers dancing atop a local bus. Yea, the ones with half broken windows and paint peeling off!! Totally random.. totally exhilarating! But then, that’s me!

The team was engaging all the people around and handing them a traditional skirt blouse to throw on and join the brou haha. I guess you could say it was a classic case of ‘right time right place.’ I look at my man who in turn glances back with the typical ‘you must be crazy, baby’ look. But then, I was already running towards the stairs of the local bus!!!

It ain’t something I’d ever plan to do but then when life gives you lemons.. best to make lemonade eh?! Needless to say, that even that tastes best when infused with both salt and sugar!!! Hahahaha

So after years of being together, what are the odds of discovering a new dimension about your partner? Have they suddenly gotten fascinated by local flea markets or have taken a liking to dune biking in the sand? Do they really wanna get on the hop on hop off and wander around the age old palaces, to stare at ceilings studded with semi precious stones or better yet…. Have they taken a fancy to savour the city the way the locals do it?

I must admit… I too, got a chance to raise my eyebrow’s a few times this trip.. He wanted to do things he had never done before and what made it all the more special was that his mind was open. There were no inhibitions.. there was no guard and most importantly, there was no agenda. We just went with the flow, albeit differently!

Nevertheless, we saw the city, inhaled its richness and added to our memories in a way that surprised us both. It got us closer and sure as hell got me to believe and reaffirm, that truly love makes you do the impossible!

Maybe I do wanna walk into the unknown but one thing is certain that even in that space.. I’d want to experience it with my known! There is no contempt in familiarity as age old sayings put it, neither is there more fondness if the absence is longer.. The heart feels the same feeling, irrespective of time and place!

So, what is it that you’re gonna do differently.. for yourself or for your partner… Could be something as mundane as trying a new way of making a pasta or like us by travelling out and re creating new memories from the old.

Whichever way you chose, whatever path you walk on.. do something that blows the air out of your lungs… like literally and has u look at each other and exclaim…. ‘Damn!! That was insane’

Relationships in life are there to remind you that in this whole wide universe, there is a person or a few people in your circle that make it complete. Wouldn’t you do all it takes to keep that intact and fiery? Wouldn’t you want to find new ways to add the oomph to that? To ensure that the giggles and the laughs only get louder? We are part of a world that is struggling to find time to spend a moment of quality with one’s own self.. So in that, if you could have the one you adored by your side, woudn’t that make for just the perfect tune?

Surprise yourself once in a while and experience the instant burst of energy it gives you.. And while you’re at that…. simply have to entertain you with an eternal classic by Bruce Springsteen –

Keep walking; or should I say running…. Hahahahaa!!! Enjoy life, differently!

Cheers!
